Spotlight on Talya Rosenthal
$250 LWRWC 2020 Community Service Award Recipient
Pam Szabo shared that the Scholarship Committee was impressed with “Talya’s dedication to community service.” Tayla is the Historian of Lakewood Leaders this year, a member of the National Honor Society, and is Historian of the Student Government Association, among other organizations. Among Tayla’s community service activities are an internship with Stand With Us, the main goal of which is educating people about Israel. She is active in Temple Emanuel, URJ Heller High, and many other organizations.
Interview with Talya
Q: What inspired your passion for community service?
A:Whenever I find a new topic that is personal and important to me, I feel the need to advocate for the people in need. I have always been very passionate about community service, which comes very naturally to me.
Q: What was your most rewarding community service activity?
A: Giving Holocaust Survivors opportunity to present their stories to thousands of teenagers by bringing the survivors into different middle/high schools and colleges to share their message.
Q: In addition to your dedication to community service, what are your other favorite extracurricular activities?
A: Philosophy club, yoga, and youth group
Q: What are your college plans and short-term goals after you graduate from LWR High School?
A: I will be attending The University of Florida to study Finance, Marketing, or Political Science.
