WC Tours New Solve Home
On Friday, November 12, 2021, a small group from LWRWC toured the new Solve Maternity Home in Sarasota. The newest Solve Home is unique because it was specifically designed as an ideal maternity home.

When Solve was looking to purchase a new maternity home, Solve’s Executive Director, Peggy Kerwin, toured a multitude of properties, but was having trouble finding a home with a suitable configuration. Then a property came on the market that the owners were in the process of totally renovating to accommodate infirm elderly parents who unfortunately took a turn for the worse and required assisted living. The owner was very moved by Peggy’s purpose and he donated the property to Solve with the proviso it remains a maternity home into perpetuity.
Solve was able to sell one of their older maternity homes and much of the remodeling and contractor work to the new home was done at cost or was donated. LWRWC is proud to have made a financial gift to Solve to sponsor the Educational Center/Media Nook in the new Solve home..
The Solve Site Tour included meeting Shari Nugent (the Solve House Mom), two young expectant mother, and Beth Adams, who was assisting Peggy.
Eileen Buzzard, LWRWC Philanthropy Chair, organized the tour and delivered a donation of nine handmade baby blankets from the Blankets 4 Babies (B4B) Committee as gifts to the new moms.

The ladies of the Blankets 4 Babies have been meeting monthly for about four years. To date, this committee has donated approximately 470 handmade baby blankets and quilts to three of our LWRWC adopted charities (Solve Maternity Homes, HOPE Family Services, and the Children’s Guardian Fund.)
