New Member Gathering
The LWRWC Board hosted their first New Member Gathering since the pandemic to officially welcome new and recent members to the Women’s Club on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Linda McMillan, LWRWC 2021 Membership Chair, created a warm and welcoming ambience with charming centerpieces and a delightful array of packaged treats and candy on all the tables. A traditional new member brunch was not yet a practical option. During her welcome remarks, Linda told the new members that Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club is an excellent venue for meeting new friends, participating in interesting activities, and getting involved in helping our community.
Board members in attendance introduced themselves and gave a brief overview of their positions, backgrounds and key information about the club and its activities. This included sharing highlights of programs, off-the-ranch outings, Special Interest Group (SIGs), and philanthropic community service activities. Board members explained that all proceeds from our fundraisers benefit the four LWRWC Adopted Charities – HOPE Family Services, SMART Riding Therapy, SOLVE Maternity Homes, and Children’s Guardian Fund.
The highlight of the New Member Gathering was the introduction of the new members. Each new member was asked to introduce herself and share her background and expectations. Although our new members come from different places and diverse backgrounds, several key commonalities are shared by all. Each new member joined the LWRWC because she is looking to make friends with other like-minded women and wants to serve her community and make a difference
