June 2020 Update

LWRWC Members:

We hope that everyone is doing well and enjoying a little bit more freedom every day. Your board continues to stay in touch and busy is getting ready to open our club again in September, HOPEFULLY! The Events Committee has busy planning activities, hopefully beginning with our annual Pot Luck Dinner in September.

You will be amazed at the incredible and exciting events that are being planned based on the results of the survey that was sent out in May. Thank you to the many of you participated and for your feedback. We listened! Here are the top events: The Holiday Market, Book Luncheon, Fashion Show, Girls Night Out, Game Day, Holiday Dinner, Brunch, Bags, and Bingo, and Trivia. More information to follow.

We also hope to get our special interest groups up and running again. The lady bikers are still riding. If you want to join, please contact Arminee Bowler at armineebowler@aol.com. Marybeth Steffens has also scheduled a book club meeting for October. You can contact her at msteffens@aol.com.
Our mask project just keeps on growing. To date, close to 3000 masks have been donated not only to the LWR Medical Center, but also to our 4 adopted charities, Main Street Restaurants and merchants, Doctor’s offices in the area, and to friends and neighbors.

CHANCE TO CELEBRATE  LWRMC HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Auxiliary, President, Carole Cowan sent this out in the hope that our community will join us to express their appreciation for the long hours and commitments of the entire hospital staff during the pandemic.

On Thursday, June 18, 2020, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center (LWRMC) and Lakewood Ranch Community Activities will honor healthcare professionals with a drive-by parade at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center located at 8330 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202.

Participants are asked to enter from the Health Park Way entrance from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In honor of the healthcare heroes, donations can be made in support of the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship fund. Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, Executive Director, Keith Pandeloglou, added, “We’re so thankful to have such wonderful healthcare professionals right in our community at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and this is just one small way we can bring awareness to all that they’ve been doing to keep our community safe.”

BARN DRIVE FOR SMART

During the Corona virus pandemic, events all over had to be cancelled. These cancellations put a tremendous strain on non-profit charities who were not able to have major fundraisers. Such is the case of one of our adopted charities, Sarasota Manatee Area Riding Therapy (SMART.)

Several of our members have been out to SMART and have seen a tremendous need for supplies. On June 27, the LWRWC will be sponsoring a BARN DRIVE to help!!!! Items will be collected at various locations throughout LWR and will then be delivered directly out east. We have a wish list from SMART. Please watch for a separate blast to come in the next few days to see how you can help. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Stay well! Hopefully we will all be together SOON!
