Happy 4th of July, a few days late!
We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy!
Your board is continuing to meet using ZOOM. We are anxiously awaiting the time when we can gather together once again! Unfortunately, with the rise in the number of positive cases in Florida, it is looking more and more like this will not be anytime soon. Meeting on ZOOM helps your board to keep in touch and continue to plan. We have been weighing the pros and cons of having events scheduled for the remainder of the year. Our two major events for the fall, The Holiday Market and The Holiday Dinner Dance take a great deal of advanced planning. Regrettably, because of the planning and the number of people that would be involved and the difficulty in cancelling at the last minute, we have decided it is not a good idea to hold these two events. We are very hopeful that we will be able to hold events, starting in January!!!! Our monthly meetings and our luncheons will be cancelled until January as well. Our Lady Bikers are still meeting. If you like to ride, please contact Arminee Bowler at Armineebowler@aol.com We are also looking into the possibility of other special interest groups meeting as well, either outside or virtually. There is a suggestion that we hold our monthly general meetings virtually. Our fabulous program chairs, Regina Napoli, Sharon Wright, and Monique Govostes are investigating the possibility of inviting speakers for these meetings.
Barn Drive for SMART was a BIG Success
On a VERY positive note: Our Barn Drive for SMART on June 27 was a BIG success! Thank you to Trish Newman who organized the drive and to those who came out both to work and donate in the oppressive heat! Check out the fabulous pictures on our Website, LWRWC.org. A total of $8500 in cash and in-kind donations were received! It never ceases to amaze us how very generous our ladies (and their families, friends, and neighbors) are!!!!! By the way, Trish is now co-chair of the Philanthropy Committee. Be prepared, she is FULL of ideas! Trish is also still sewing masks. If you are interested in making masks, please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
