LWRWC New Member Tea
The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club held it’s annual Fall “New Members’ Tea” at the home of Mary Beth Steffens, LWRWC president, on Friday, November 8, 2013.
The LWRWC accepted 45 new members this half-year, 22 of whom attended the tea hosted by the WC board. The new members mingled with members of the board, sipped coffee and tea, and snacked on sausage balls, deviled eggs, spinich bites, fruit, cheeses, sweets and pumpkin bread.
President Mary Beth Steffens led the morning program. She introduced Board Members: Trish Newman, vice president; Patti Wrobel, recording secretary; Jan Hasler, treasurer; and Dianne Emmermann, corresponding secretary. Also representing the board were: MaryLee Danahy, membership chair; Jean Muccini, communications chair; and Frankie Bailey, past president advisor.
Officers and committee chairs gave a short biographical sketch and new members reciprocated. Some interesting conversation and additional information was provoked by “unknown questions” drawn at random from a little “cube” which has become a recent tradition at the teas.
Mary Beth spoke of the many activities sponsored by the WC and urged the new members to participate in the monthly meetings, trips, and special events. She gave each new member a gift – a copy of the LWRWC’s cookbook which was published two years ago as a fund raiser.
The Women’s Club hosts two teas yearly to welcome new members, provide a little history and structure of the club, and describe their activities and goals.
