March 2014

Pack a suitcase for two weeks and not check a bag!

Due to a "glitch" in scheduling by Town Hall, members of the WC squeezed into a small space at the March meeting. Cramped quarters didn't damper spirits as the members munched on Irish soda bread baked by Terry Chapman and asked questions throughout the speaker's talk on packing for two weeks in a "carry on" bag.

Business Meeting

The business meeting was called to order by President, Trish Newman who began the meeting with an Irish prayer/poem.  Trish introduced and displayed  the “Story Boards”, commisioned by the WC to illustrate the progress toward projects that the WC will work on this year for charity.

Patti Wrobel, Vice President and Philantrophy Committee chair asked the members to donate white sheets and towels for SOLVE and gave a report on the delivery of the Birthday Bags to HOPE.

Janet Stickel gave a report on the Authors Luncheon held last month at The Francis.  The event was a huge success and raised about $6,500.  MaryLee Danahy, membership chair, announced the current membership count at 290, introduced new members, and invited them to the New Member Coffee on March 28 to be held at Town Hall.
