LWRWC Holds Annual Meeting
The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club held its Annual Business Meeting Thursday evening January 8, 2015 at the LWR Town Hall. First on the agenda was the presentation of checks to the club’s adopted charities: HOPE, SOLVE, and SMART – money raised from the club’s 2014 fund-raising events.
Club Presents $42,000 to Charity
Trish Newman presented “storyboards” to each charity explaining each fund raising event and how they were represented in colors and stickers on each board.
Jean Muccini handed a check to Laurel Lynch from Hope Family Services on behalf of the chairs and committees of the Feb. Author’s Luncheon and the Dec. Cirque de Holidaze gift boutique.
Wilma Nourie gave a check to Peggy Kerwin from Solve Maternity Homes on behalf of the chairs and committee of ’50 Shades of Gold’.
Trish Newman and Jan Hasler presented a check to Nick Drizos and Gail Clifton from SMART on behalf of Monty Carlos’ Casino night and Macy’s Charity Shopping Days.
Each charity representative gave a talk describing their goals and services. Laurel Lynch spoke on behalf of Hope Family Services; Peggy Kerwin spoke on behalf of Solve Maternity Homes; Gail Clifton spoke on behalf of SMART. Their inspiring words are recorded in more detail in the Meeting Minurtes.
New 2015 Board Take Office
Patti Wrobel, LWR president, introduced her officers: Shirley Taradash, Vice President; Donna Beck Smith, Treasurer; Janet Stickel, Recording Secretary; Linda McGrath, Corresponding Secretary and committee chairs: Phyllis Fox, Program; Laurie Fox, Membership; Nancy Wozniak, Philanthropy;
Monika Templeman and Eileen Buzzard, Publicity; Diana Kuna and Kathy Miller, Hospitality; Frankie Bailey, Webmaster;Trish Newman, Past President Advisor. Each gave a short report.
Pat Eilender, past president , gave a eulogy for past president Judy Heck  who passed away Dec 20, 2015. Trish Newman proposed a memorial tree with a marker at the Edgewater Wharf area where Judy resided.
Split the Pot – the winners were Marlene Gavens and Sheron Benkert.
