Style and sophistication on the runway by Saks Fifth Avenue combined with a sumptuous meal by award winning Michaels on East, delighted the members and guests. The menu choices included,
- Brie Chicken: Chicken breast topped with melted brie, a fan of sliced apple and pink peppercorn sauce.
- Seared “Maryland-Style” Crab Cakes with a classic rémoulade sauce.(Each of the above is served with golden fingerlings with Vidalia onions, lemon/thyme and ratatouille.)
- Vegetarian: Wild Mushroom Ragout over rosemary and sun dried tomato polenta.
This event is the first fundraiser of the year in support of the Women’s Club 2013 Charities. Many attendees wore black, white and a touch of pink – the Fashion Show’s color theme. How enchanté!
The afternoon commenced with a welcome by LWRWC president, Mary Beth Steffens,
who thanked the fashion show committee chairs: Diane Shaw and Trish Newman. Mary Beth also cited Sheila Shore & Linda McGrath: decorations; Janet Hough: ticket sales; Diane Shaw: wine pull; Helene Levin: reservations; and Jean Muccini: program. Merci!
Makeup artists from Estée Lauder were present to touch-up makeup and there were seventeen French themed gift baskets on which to take a chance. Two of these baskets contained a “Have Your Car Ready and Waiting” coupon in them – lucky winners’ cars were outside waiting at the valet station when they were ready to leave. Voila!
Members donated bottles of wine which which were wrapped in black. At the end of the event, anyone who purchased a ticket, “pulled” a mystery bottle of wine. Bonjour.
