Set Sail for Fashion Raises $20,000+ for Charity

The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club held a spectacular Fashion Show Charity Fundraiser, “Set Sail for Fashion,” at the Sarasota Yacht Club on Monday, March 26.

Models from the LWRWC and local business sponsors rocked the runway in an array of stunning outfits from P. J’s Boutique on Main Street in Sarasota.

More than 265 attendees enjoyed a gourmet luncheon, a surprise wine event, an elegant silent auction, exciting raffle prizes, and an outstanding DJ (JB Baxter from More than Music.)

The club raised over $20,000. In her opening remarks, LWRWC President Eileen Buzzard, said “this event represents the fun, friendship and community service that signifies the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club. 100% of the money raised will help support the critical needs of HOPE Family Services for victims of domestic violence, SOLVE Maternity Homes and SMART (Sarasota Manatee Association for Riding Therapy) to improve the lives of children and adults with physical, mental and emotional challenges.”

All  three of charities actively partner with the Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club on its major fundraising events, including Set Sail for Fashion. Each charity was represented by a model in the Fashion Show and Nick Drizos, from the SMART Advisory Council and head of the SMART Chefs, along with Eileen’s husband,  Jim Buzzard, escorted the models.

Event Co-Chair and LWRWC past president, Monika Templeman also expressed her appreciation for the phenomenal support. Monika said,” As I look at this crowded room of wonderful people, I feel blessed to live in such a caring community that actively comes together to support those in need.”

Monika made special note of the tireless work of the Fashion Show Committee, including Silent Auction & Raffle Chair, Helen Low, who collected and displayed 69 Silent auction and Raffle items, Registration Chair Helen Levin and many dedicated committee members and volunteers.
