The LWRWC Board hosted 26 new members at a coffee at Lakewood Ranch Town Hall on Friday, March 28, 2014.
New members mingled with members of the board and sipped coffee and tea and snacked on homemade lemon pound cake, zucchini squares, fresh fruit and vegetable platters, and other delicious goodies.
Trish Newman led the morning program with an overview of the club’s charities and goals for 2014. She then turned the meeting over to Diane Shaw, Program Chair who reviewed all of the activities planned for the balance of the year.
Each board member then introduced themselves and spoke about how they came to live in Lakewood Ranch and how they became involved with the club. Over and over board members emphasized how volunteering with the club had given them great satisfaction. Their joint efforts to raise money for club sponsored charities had resulted in tangible benefits for worthy organizations as well as personal benefits for themselves in the friendships and joy gained from participating in fun activities.
New members then introduced themselves and gave a brief history. During this process many new members and the board found many areas in common and plans were made for future engagements.
