WC Members display Ikebana arrangements at Selby Gardens

 

Several members of the Women’s Club enjoyed a very special GIRLS’ DAY OUT at the Selby Gardens, South Palm Avenue in Sarasota, on Wednesday, June 4. The women learned how to arrange flowers and plant material in the “Ikebana” style.

Ikebana is the Japanese art of creating formal arrangements of cut flowers and leaves with an emphasis on balance, harmony and form. It has evolvred in Japan over seven centuries.

The ladies brought their own garden tools and the Selby provided the materials, vases, and expert instruction. Each participant created two arrangements; fee for the class was $50 per person.

The event was planned by Program Chair, Diane Shaw and her committee; Helene Levin assisted with reservations.
